Caufield records hat trick in Wisconsin’s 7-3 win over Penn State
For the second night in a row, the Wisconsin Badgers (4-2) beat the Penn State Nittany Lions. This time, Cole Caufield scored three goals in the Badgers’ 7-3 win over the Nittany Lions on Tuesday.
Linus Weissbach got the scoring started with 13:17 to go in the first period, then Dominick Mersch scored with 10:54 in the period.
Caufield got his first goal of the night on a power play with just under three minutes left in the period. That score gave Wisconsin a 3-0 lead at the first intermission.

The Nittany Lions scored early in the second period but Tarek Baker found the back of the net on a breakaway with 1:04 left in the second.
Leading 4-1 in the third, Sam Stange added another goal for the Badgers just 26 seconds into the final period. Caufield sniped in his second goal with 18:41 left on the clock.

Penn State scored twice in the third before Caufield completed the hat trick with an empty-net goal with 2:06 to go in the game.
Wisconsin will be back in action against the Arizona State Sun Devils on Saturday at 7 p.m. in La Bahn Arena. That game, along with Sunday’s bout against the Sun Devils, will be televised on FOX Sports Wisconsin.
