Caufield scores twice as Badgers beat Gophers 4-1

Cole Caufield scored twice as the No. 11 Wisconsin Badgers beat the No. 2 Minnesota Gophers 4-1 in the series opener at 2M Arena at Mariucci.

Caufield opened the scoring in the first period with a breakaway goal just over a minute into the game. His second tally of the night broke a 1-1 tie with seven minutes remaining in the third period.

Wisconsin scored three goals in a 2:18 stretch in the third as Dylan Holloway and Roman Ahcan also scored for the Badgers.

Minnesota’s lone goal was by Sammy Walker in the second period.

The two teams meet for the series finale on Saturday at 7 p.m. The game will be on FOX Sports Wisconsin PLUS.
