The BYU Cougars are road tripping to Florida to take on the USF Bulls for a Saturday afternoon, Week 1 college football contest.
The Cougars finished last season with an overall 10-3 record, and one of their losses included a 31-28 defeat by UAB in the Independence Bowl. The Cougars’ offense is led by returning quarterback Jaren Hall, wide receiver Gunner Romney and Pac-12 transfers in the backfield. This Cougar team should be ranked in the Top 25 all season, and thanks to a challenging schedule with two games against Top 20 opponents at home, BYU could flirt with being a Top 10 team by Halloween.
“But this is a dangerous spot against a bad team that’s easy to overlook. USF staged an impressive rally last year at BYU, trailing 21-0 but only losing 35-27 and covering the 24-point spread. BYU has a huge non-conference game next week under the lights in Provo against No. 10 Baylor. Forgive them if they end up overlooking a Bulls team that went 2-10 last year, including four losses by 20+ points.
