Utah State (1-0) overcame a two-game skid early in the season to win the Mountain West Conference and the SoFi Bowl to finish 11-3 and No. 24 in the country.

Alabama was 13-2 in 2021, finishing second in the CFP behind the Georgia Bulldogs. The Crimson Tide have won 20 consecutive season openers.

Alabama won the only meeting between the schools 48-17 in 2004.

The Aggies are 1-18 against the SEC, with their lone win coming against Kentucky in 1970.

Utah State has won 39 of its past 48 games when it has a 100-yard rusher and 45 of its past 51 games when rushing at least 40 times in a game.

Nick Saban is 14-0 straight up (SU) and 12-2 against the spread (ATS) at Alabama. When favored by 30 or more points in its opener under Saban, Alabama is 3-0 SU and ATS.

The Tide returns quarterback Bryce Young, who is attempting to become the first repeat Heisman Trophy winner since Ohio State‘s Archie Griffin in 1974-75. Young is the second betting favorite (+350 at FOX Bet, bet $10 to win $45 total) to win the Heisman this season.
