Job Title: Credit Coordinator

Location: Lagos
Reports to: Chief Business Development Officer (CBDO)
Department: Credit

Responsibilities

  • Staff Management:responsible for all areas of credit staff management including training and development, monitoring, evaluating and managing performance.
  • Heading credit committees and taking loan decisions on a daily basis ensuring a high quality loan portfolio, whilst creating an open discussion among credit committee members
  • Monitoring the various products loan portfolio and organizing recovery committees in collaboration with the CBDO, and conducting on-site client visits for supervision or recovery
  • Being proactive and making recommendations on how to improve the company’s credit policy and procedures
  • Maintain high quality portfolio of Micro, Small and Medium sized loans by ensuring good loan origination, conducting Credit Committees, Recovery Committees, coordinating with Legal and Recovery units
  • Coordinating loan enforcement measures and direct promotion activities.
  • Participation in business budgeting, budget controlling, staffing and resources management.
  • Ensures fulfillment of the budget.
  • Ensure that rules and regulations in credit procedures are respected across the various products
  • Ensure implementation of model of organization and follow up by all Loan officers.
  • Ensure compliance to policies on monitoring and control
  • Development of products and procedures.
  • Proposing recommendations to the CBDO and management on performance improvement, risk control strengthening and work-flow efficiency improvement.
  • Supporting, coaching and mentoring team members to ensure that the quality of work produced by team members is in compliance with organizational standards and procedures, and legislation at all times, reporting any violations and taking corrective action when necessary in consultation with the CBDO
  • Meeting team members individually and as a group to communicate credit-related issues, and provide feedback on individual performance
  • Coordinating on-the-job training and providing opportunities for team members to develop their knowledge and skills to ensure that they achieve an acceptable standard of performance or to take on increased responsibility

Necessary Experience, Knowledge And Qualification

  • B.Sc or Higher National Diploma in any related field
  • Minimum of five years’ work experience in lending supervisory role of a National MFB
  • Proven strong leadership skills
  • Proven ability to meet set targets
  • Post graduate qualification /Professional certification will be an added advantage
  • Self-motivation to work as an experienced Credit Coordinator showing the willingness and ability to multi task and prioritize
  • Good understanding of the Nigerian micro finance sector with sound knowledge of international credit best practice
  • Good knowledge of products and procedures
  • Honesty, integrity and independence, also observing professional ethics when executing his/her duties
  • Ability to work with limited supervision to meet deadlines and targets while demonstrating attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to accurately identify problems, risks and propose adequate solutions on credit processes
  • Effective organizational skills e.g. written and oral communication skills including cooperation across departments while maintaining discretion, confidentiality and focus
  • Proficient in MS office , Financial software solutions and other operating systems used in area of specialization.
