Cron homers twice in Twins’ 9-4 loss to Orioles

First baseman C.J. Cron hit his first two home runs of spring training and racked up three RBI, but the Minnesota Twins fell 9-4 to the Baltimore Orioles on Monday at CenturyLink Sports Complex.

Cron hit a solo home run in the first inning and scored Jonathan Schoop with a two-run homer in the third inning.

Cron, 29, was claimed off waivers by the Twins in November and hit .253 with a career-high 30 home runs last season for the Tampa Bay Rays.

Jordany Valdespin scored the Twins’ only other run with a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth.

Veteran right-hander Kyle Gibson started for the Twins, allowing one hit and two walks in two innings, while striking out three.

Addison Reed, Justin Nicolino, Blake Parker, Taylor Rogers, Trevor May, Fernando Romero, Tyler Duffey and D.J. Baxendale also pitched for the Twins.
