Donaldson homers, doubles in Twins’ 7-4 win over Red Sox

Josh Donaldson’s power was on full display Thursday in the Minnesota Twins’ 7-4 win over the Boston Red Sox.

The third baseman homered and doubled in the first two innings off former Minnesota pitcher Martin Perez.

Byron Buxton’s bases-loaded double scored three in the first inning and an inning later, Donaldson crushed a 2-run home run to give the Twins an early 5-0 lead.

Randy Dobnak dominated on the mound for Minnesota, allowing just one hit, a solo home run, while striking out five in five innings of work.

Minnesota returns to the diamond at 5 p.m. Friday for a matchup against the Atlanta Braves. The Twins open the 2021 season on April 1 against Milwaukee.
