Entry-Level WASH Assistant – COVID-19 at Action Against Hunger Nigeria

Job Title: WASH Assistant – COVID-19
Location: Maiduguri, Borno

Company Overview

Objective 1
- Identification and support of LGA Task Force and LGA Rapid Response Team
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Support in the identification and training of LGA Task Force, LGA Rapid Response Team, WASH and Health and Nutrition units on Infection, Prevention and Control (IPC) on COVID 19 together with other AAH project team members.
- Attend and lead regular LGA Task Force meetings
- Support LGAs on work-plan activities for their LGAs.
- Work with these LGA teams to ensure commitment and accountability with respect to how their activities or engagement promote infectious control and prevention of the spread of COVID-19.
- Ensure that they observe Standard Infection Prevention and Control at all times
Objective 2
- Identification and support Community Volunteers or Community Nutrition Monitors and Surveillance Officer at LGAs level
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Support WaSH officer in Identification and training of existing community volunteers or Community Nutrition Monitors and Surveillance officers on Infection, Prevention and Control, Surveillance and Risk communication on COVID 19
- Support community volunteers or Community Nutrition Monitors and Surveillance Officer in identifying and sensitizing hot spot zones in communities
- Support community volunteers or Community Nutrition Monitors and Surveillance Officer in identifying communities Point of entry for handwashing stations with soap and water.
- Support community volunteers or Community Nutrition Monitors and Surveillance Officer on sensitization in communities on COVID 19
Objective 3
- Support Isolation centers, Health Facilities, and State level ToT training
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Support health workers in waste management disposal training
- Support training of Health Workers and state-level ToT training on IPC, Surveillance and Risk communication and Case Management
- Support and monitor construction sites.
- Be in-charge of basic PPE items that will be donated to the isolation center.
- Ensure that isolation center staff maintain standard precaution with respect to Infection Prevention and Control at all times.
- Ensure isolation centers are functionally set up to serve temporarily as an observation room of all suspected cases in the LGA before they are transported to the LGA.
- Follow-up with all suspected cases to ensure that they receive the expected care until they are taking out of the LGA
Objective 4
- Coordination of all COVID-19 related activities at LGA level
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Assist the WASH officer to Coordinate with all LGA stakeholders to carry out all activities related to COVID-19.
- Collaborate with community influencer to ensure that community members buy-in the project ideas on Infection Prevention and Control
Qualifications
Position Requirements:
- University Degree/ Higher National Diploma in Civil Engineering, Water Resource Engineering, Hydraulics, Environmental Engineering and other related engineering fields with experience in areas of WASH and Health program
Skills and Experience:
Essential:
- Experience in monitoring and supervision of construction works.
- Good understanding of BoQs
- Team management and activity planning
- Good organizational ability
- Good knowledge of the intervention area
- Dynamism and Flexibility
- Fluent in Hausa/Fulani (both written and spoken).
- Experience in WASH and Health Programme.
Preferred:
- Fluent in the local language (Hausa/Fulani).
- Preparation of BoQs and previous experience with INGO will be preferred.
