Fan voting begins for 2021 Royals Hall of Fame class
Seven Kansas City Royals greats are on the 2021 ballot for the Royals Hall of Fame, and the polls are open for fans to cast their votes.
This year’s nominees are outfielder Carlos Beltran (1998-2004), first baseman/DH Billy Butler (2007-14), pitcher Kyle Davies (2007-11), outfielder Johnny Damon (1995-2000), pitcher Jeremy Guthrie (2012-15), pitcher Luke Hochevar (2007-13, 2015-16) and the late pitcher Yordano Ventura (2013-16).
Damon and Ventura return to the ballot after receiving more than 10% of the 2019 vote (the minimum required for continued candidacy). Beltran, Butler, Davies, Guthrie and Hochevar are first-year eligibles.
Fans can vote online at royals.com/hofvote through March 10. The online fan ballot will account for three overall votes; each of the top three vote getters will receive all three votes from fans. Fans will be joined by other voters, including all living members of the Royals Hall of Fame and select members of the Royals Front Office Leadership Group, the Kansas City chapter of the Baseball Writers’ Association of America, Kansas City electronic media representatives and Royals associates with at least 15 years of service.
Any candidate receiving 75% of the vote will be elected.
Candidates are not nominated; they join the ballot based on eligibility thresholds. Players must have been active with the Royals for at least three seasons and accumulated a minimum of 1,500 plate appearances or 300 innings pitched.
