We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Field Assistant

Location: Borno (Biu, Kwaya-Kusar and Bayo)
Department: International Programs

Job Summary

  • The selected candidate will work as part of the core team implementing daily cash distribution and all activities at the distribution points during the Integrated Nutrition Program (INP) to Pregnant and Lactating women as well as those with children of 6-23 months who access the covered health facilities within Biu, Bayo and Kwaya Kusar LGAs in the southern part of Borno State.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with M&E and data clerks to conduct beneficiary registration and update the register with newly registered beneficiaries and those exited
  • Compile and timely submit the cash out plans to WFP CBT program unit
  • Conduct beneficiary sensitization on cash entitlement, cash out days, distribution points, beneficiary rights, eligibility criteria etc.
  • Maintain open line of communication with the beneficiaries to obtain feedback and complaints
  • Conduct beneficiary verification, validation and registration on cash out days
  • Identify and prioritize vulnerable people on distribution days
  • Update and reconcile cash issued against the beneficiary list in every cash out
  • Work with the team to maintain a log of feedback, complaints and corrective actions
  • Coordinate the health committees and health workers in the implementation of project activities
  • Work with the security manager to ensure effective crowd control and safety of beneficiaries and staff
  • Work with the team leader to organize vehicles and materials required during cash out activities
  • Timely report to the team leader about cash disbursed, suspected or confirmed cases of rogue agents giving beneficiaries less than their entitlements and beneficiary’s verified
  • Supervise and coordinate with the casual workers, mobile money agents and other team members to ensure effective cash out and safety. Plan and carry out MUAC screenings at Mother Support Group meetings to improve on case findings and referral pathways.

Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse:

  • Actively promote PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) standards within International Medical Corps and amongst beneficiaries served by International Medical Corps
  • Any other duties that may be assigned from time by supervisors.

Compliance & Ethics:

  • Promotes and encourages a culture of compliance and ethics throughout International Medical Corps. As applicable to the position, maintains a clear understanding of International Medical Corps’ and donor compliance and ethics standards and adheres to those standards
  • Conducts work with the highest level of integrity.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition or Health, Social Science, Social Works, or Food Security related discipline and at least two years of professional experience in cash assistance interventions
  • Experience in northeast Nigeria is an added advantage .

Required skills:

  • Experience in community mobilization and sensitization
  • Experience in food/ cash distributions and NFI distributions
  • Good computer skills especially Word and Excel, access. Knowledge of other databases preferred
  • Good human relations and diplomacy
  • Capacity to organize work
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking and analytical skills
  • Good command of English (reading, writing, speaking). Knowledge of Hausa and any local language is an added advantage
  • Capacity to work under stressful situations
  • Strong organizational and time management skills and capacity to coordinate work across multiple departments
  • Experience living in remote or isolated work stations, or insecure locations.
