Final Green Bay Packers 2019 mock draft roundup

Well, the time is here: the 2019 NFL draft.

If you’re wondering who the Green Bay Packers will select in the first round, well, you’re in the right place.

We’ve compiled 98 mock drafts – yes, 98 – to give you the most comprehensive analysis (guessing?) of how the draft will go for the Packers.

While there is no consensus for who Green Bay will select with the first of its two first-round picks, an Iowa tight end is a popular choice. But 16 players in all were mocked to the Packers with that first pick, and there’s quite the variety.

For Green Bay’s second first-round pick, as you might expect, there’s a bit more variety. Almost 30 different players are projected to the Packers with that late-round pick, and that doesn’t include a few who mock Green Bay trading that pick and getting out of the first round. You’ll also find that some players mocked to the Packers with their initial first-rounder are predicted by others to slip all the way to the end of the round (again, hello Iowa tight end!).

(Also keep in mind a player you think should have been mocked to the Packers wasn’t selected because of how that person’s draft board fell, i.e. picks ahead of Green Bay, and/or projected trades.)

Some drafts do more than one round – we’ve included every Green Bay pick in these cases. For some, we’ve included the commentary/analysis. But every mock has a link which you can check out yourself if you’re interested in the analysis and/or other picks.

In addition, you can check out our previous mock roundups to see how things have changed: post-Super Bowl, post-combine and post-free agency.

For reference, here are all of Green Bay’s picks (round-pick in round-overall pick): 1-12-12, 1-30-30, 2-12-44, 3-12-75, 4-12-114, 4-16-118, 5-12-150, 6-12-185, 6-22-194, 7-12-226.

At the end of the list we’ll give the final tally.

Also, reminder to keep checking FOXSportsWisconsin.com – website and social media – for the latest on every Packers pick.

Without further ado, the final mock draft roundup for the Packers:

More Packers coverage

Peter King of NBCSports.com: Round 1a – Noah Fant, TE, Iowa. “This is probably 10 picks too high for Fant, and it wouldn’t surprise me if GM Brian Gutekunst picks long-term offensive tackle Andre Dillard here instead. But in any case, I can’t see Fant making it out of the first round.”; Round 1b – D.K. Metcalf, WR, Mississippi. “I could see Andre Dillard here too, but Brian Gutekunst is trying to stock up for one last multi-year run with Aaron Rodgers, giving him the kind of weapons that will allow him to be Aaron Rodgers again. I might go Marquise Brown here if I were Green Bay, but I realize a 166-pound burner may not have the shelf life of a Sterling Sharpe-big-bodied player like Metcalf.”

Albert Breer of SI.com: Round 1a – T.J. Hockenson, TE, Iowa. “Tight end or tackle seems to be the consensus likelihood here. I could see Green Bay taking Dillard if he slipped to No. 12. Otherwise, I’d watch both the Iowa tight ends—with many NFL people regarding this as the floor for Hockenson.”; Round 1b – (Has Packers trading out of first round, dealing No. 30 to Denver, which takes QB Drew Lock.)

Peter Schrager of NFL.com: Round 1a – Marquise Brown, WR, Oklahoma; Round 1b – Elgton Jenkins, OL, Mississippi State.

Drafttek (7 rounds): Round 1a – T.J. Hockenson, TE, Iowa; Round 1b – Chauncey Gardner-Johnson, S, Florida; Round 2 – J.J. Arcega-Whiteside, WR, Stanford; Round 3 – Yodny Cajuste, OT, West Virginia; Round 4a – Darrell Henderson, RB, Memphis; Round 4b – Joe Giles-Harris, LB, Duke; Round 5 – Terry Beckner Jr., DL, Missouri; Round 6a – Brett Rypien, QB, Boise State; Round 6b – Porter Gustin, DE/OLB, USC; Round 7 – Josiah Coatney, DL, Mississippi.

Jason La Canfora of CBSSports.com: Round 1a – Noah Fant, TE, Iowa. “What better way to get things off on the right foot with Aaron Rodgers than to give him a specimen like this to boost the passing game? Sure, OL help is needed as well, but Rodgers has lost playmakers in recent years and Jimmy Graham seems close to done. Rookie head coach Matt LaFleur needs more pieces to the puzzle on offense after so much money was spent on defense in free agency (although if Bush is still on the board here I think he’s the pick).”; Round 1b – Marquise Brown, WR, Oklahoma.

Daniel Jeremiah of NFL.com: Round 1a – Jawaan Taylor, OT, Florida. “If Andre Dillard were to fall, he’d come into play here. With him off the board, they still are able to address the offensive line. Taylor is a plug-and-play right tackle who will be an upgrade over Bryan Bulaga.”; Round 1b – Drew Lock, QB, Missouri.

Mike Tanier of Bleacher Report: Round 1a — T.J. Hockenson, TE, Iowa. “Matt LaFleur’s Sean McVay/Clan Shanahan-flavored offense requires an all-purpose tight end whose presence on the field does not dictate tendency. Hockensen can block in-line on running plays, flex out as a receiver and do a lot of damage as a receiver off play action. He’ll make the Packers less predictable and more versatile, two things their offense needs.”; Round 1b – Deandre Baker, CB, Georgia.

Charles Davis of NFL.com: Round 1a – Noah Fant, TE, Iowa; Round 1b – Devin Bush, LB, Michigan.

Matt Miller of Bleacher Report (7 rounds): Round 1a – Noah Fant, TE, Iowa. “Noah Fant is an athletic tight end with awesome size (6’4″, 249 lbs) and the ability to line up in multiple spots across the offensive formation. Fant’s speed up the field plus his ability to help as a blocker in the running game make him a perfect fit for Green Bay.”; Round 1b – Cody Ford, OL, Oklahoma; Round 2 – J.J. Arcega-Whiteside, WR, Stanford; Round 3 – Germaine Pratt, LB, NC State; Round 4a – Evan Worthington, S, Colorado; Round 4b – Kingsley Keke, DL, Texas; Round 5 – Greg Gaines, DL, Washington; Round 6a – Monte Hartage, CB, Northwestern; Round 6b – Ben Powers, OG, Oklahoma; Round 7 — Hjalte Froholdt, OG, Arkansas.

R.J. White of CBSSports.com (7 rounds): Note: He has several deals, with the Packers moving down to 16 in the first round and dealing third- and fourth-round picks to Kansas City. Round 1a – Cody Ford, OG, Oklahoma; Round 1b – Marquise Brown, WR, Oklahoma; Round 2a – Zach Allen, DE/OLB, Boston College; Round 2b – Jace Sternberger, TE, Texas A&M; Round 3 – Bobby Okereke, ILB, Stanford; Round 4 – Chuma Edoga, OT, USC; Round 5 – Benny Snell, RB, Kentucky; Round 6a – Tim Harris, CB, Virginia; Round 6b – Lukas Denis, S/CB, Boston College; Round 7 – Lil’Jordan Humphrey, WR, Texas.

Barry Wilner of the Associated Press: Round 1a — T.J. Hockenson, TE, Iowa; Round 1b – Nasir Adderley, CB/S, Delaware.

Ryan Wilson of CBSSports.com: Round 1a — Noah Fant, TE, Iowa. “Noah Fant reminds us of Evan Engram in that you can line him up anywhere and he’ll pose a matchup nightmare for whomever’s in front of him — linebacker, safety, cornerback. He ran a 4.50 at the combine and he plays even faster than that. Jimmy Graham isn’t the player he once was and Fant would be an obvious successor.”; Round 1b – Dalton Risner, OL, Kansas State.

John Clayton of the Washington Post: Round 1a – Christian Wilkins, DT, Clemson. “Noah Fant could be an option if the Packers want to move on from veteran tight end Jimmy Graham, but Wilkins fits well as an interior lineman given that Muhammad Wilkerson is gone and Green Bay might not keep Mike Daniels beyond this season.” Round 1b – Greg Little, OT, Mississippi.

Tony Pauline of Draft Analyst: Round 1a – Jonah Williams, OT, Alabama; Round 1b – Noah Fant, YE, Iowa.

Eddie Brown of the San Diego Union-Tribune (7 rounds): Round 1a – Andre Dillard, OT, Washington State; Round 1b – D.K. Metcalf, WR, Mississippi; Round 2 – Chauncey Gardner-Johnson, S, Florida; Round 3 – Terrill Hanks, LB, New Mexico State; Round 4a – Rodney Anderson, RB, Oklahoma; Round 4b – Drew Sample, TE, Washington; Round 5 – Demarcus Christmas, DL, Florida State; Round 6a – Jordan Brailford, DE/OLB, Oklahoma State; Round 6b – Oliseameka Udoh, OL, Elon; Round 7 – Elijah Holyfield, RB, Georgia; Round 7a – Saquan Hampton, S, Rutgers.

Clarence Hill Jr. of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram: Round 1a – T.J. Hockenson, TE, Iowa; Round 1b – Cody Ford, OL, Oklahoma.

Walter Cherepinsky of WalterFootball.com (7 rounds): Round 1a – Rashan Gary, DE/DT, Michigan; Round 1b – Noah Fant, TE, Iowa; Round 2 – D.K. Metcalf, WR, Mississippi; Round 3 – Tytus Howard, OT, Alabama State; Round 4a – Ben Bangou, DE/OLB, TCU; Round 4b – Drue Tranquill, LB, Notre Dame; Round 5 – Emanuel Hall, WR, Missouri; Round 6a – Isaiah Prince, OT, Ohio State; Round 6b – Ryan Bates, OG, Penn State; Round 7 – Alex Barnes, RB, Kansas State.

Pat Leonard of the NY Daily News: Round 1a – Jonah Williams, OT, Alabama. “New Green Bay coach Matt LaFleur secures a versatile tackle to help protect Aaron Rodgers.”; Round 1b – Johnathan Abram, S, Mississippi State.

Steve Palazzolo of Pro Football Focus (3 rounds): Round 1a – Ed Oliver, DT, Houston; Round 1b – Hakeem Butler, WR, Iowa State; Round 2 – Noah Fant, TE, Iowa; Round 3 – Drue Tranquill, LB, Notre Dame.

Mike Freeman of Bleacher Report: Round 1 – Brian Burns, DE/OLB, Florida State; Round 1b –Christian Wilkins, DT, Clemson.

Doug Farrar of Touchdown Wire: Round 1a – Noah Fant, TE, Iowa; Round 1b – Johnathan Abram, S, Mississippi State.

Lance Zierlein of NFL.com: Round 1a – Andre Dillard, OT, Washington State; Round 1b – Noah Fant, TE, Iowa.

Chris Trapasso of CBSports.com: Round 1a – Noah Fant, TE, Iowa. “Fant is a dangerous seam-stretcher who can win in contested-catch situations with relative ease. He’d be an instant-impact player with Aaron Rodgers.”; Round 1b – Drew Lock, QB, Missouri.

Nicklaus Gray of the Nashville Tennessean: Round 1a – Devin White, LB, LSU; Round 1b – Noah Fant, TE, Iowa.

Karen Guregian of the Boston Herald: Round 1a — T.J. Hockenson, TE, Iowa; Round 1b – Chris Lindstrom, OG, Boston College.

Bob McManaman of the Arizona Republic: Round 1a – Devin Bush, LB, Michigan; Round 1b – Drew Lock, QB, Missouri.

Michael Middlehurst-Schwartz of USA Today: Round 1a –Noah Fant, TE, Iowa. “New coach Matt LaFleur said at the NFL scouting combine that tight end is “an extremely important position” because of certain players’ ability to create mismatches against safeties and linebackers … which sounds exactly like the kind of explanation he would give after selecting Fant.”; Round 1b – Dalton Risner, OT/G, Kansas State.

Greg Gabriel of Pro Football Weekly: Round 1a – Devin White, LB, LSU; Round 1b – Miles Sanders, RB, Penn State.

John McClain and Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle: Round 1a – both McClain and Wilson: T.J. Hockenson, TE, Iowa; Round 1b – McClain: D.K. Metcalf, WR, Mississippi; Wilson: Garrett Bradbury, C, NC State.

Don Banks of Patriots.com: Round 1a – Noah Fant, TE, Iowa. “Don’t rule out the Packers taking a less sexy pick like Washington State tackle Andre Dillard, but Fant definitely seems to be on their radar screen and it would be a selection that gives Aaron Rodgers another prime target.”; Round 1b – Marquise Brown, WR, Oklahoma. “The Packers might be tempted to select sliding Missouri quarterback Drew Lock and repeat the 2005 draft that yielded them Rodgers, but I think Green Bay’s window to win another Super Bowl is too short for such a luxury move at this point.”

Vinnie Iyer of the Sporting News: Round 1a – Devin Bush, LB, Michigan; Round 1b – Irv Smith, TE, Alabama.

Jake Meluskey of the Allentown Morning Call: Round 1a — T.J. Hockenson, TE, Iowa; Round 1b – Marquise Brown, WR, Oklahoma.

Danny Kelly of The Ringer: Round 1a – T.J. Hockenson, TE, Iowa. “New Packers head coach Matt LaFleur was hired to fix the anemic Green Bay offense, and Hockenson helps him in that regard. The Iowa star projects as an early impact blocker in the run game and a seam-threatening receiver downfield. Hockenson is athletic, tough, and versatile–and comes with the potential to develop into an All-Pro-caliber player down the road.”; Round 1b – A.J. Brown, WR, Mississippi.

Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution: Round 1a – Christian Wilkins, DT, Clemson; Round 1b – Josh Jacobs, RB, Alabama.

Josh Norris of Rotoworld: Round 1a – Brian Burns, DE/OLB, Florida State. “Linebackers, gone. Hockenson, gone. I know the team invested heavily on the edge in free agency, but why stop now? Burns offers a different style than both signed Smiths.”; Round 1b – Noah Fant, TE, Iowa.
