Job Title: Football Academy Manager
Location: Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time
Reports To: The Director of Coach, CEO
Position Summary
- The Academy Manager is a senior position in HTT Academy that holds the responsibility of delivering and implementing the strategic plan for the Academy and provide leadership to all staff, players, and other stakeholders.
Objectives:
- To provide strategic planning, operational management, marketing strategy, and good leadership of people to all areas of the Academy and ensure it delivers well-rounded footballers into the professional game.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a marketing strategy according to the Academy vision
- Take the lead on recruitment for all Academy staff and create a staff succession plan for the Academy.
- Develop and implement an operational / performance plan to deliver the strategic objectives based on Academy KPI outputs
- Ensure the KPIs are reviewed with all Academy management and monitor and adapt plans to achieve these KPIs as necessary.
- Plan and attend budget meetings with the CEO and deliver all activity within the agreed budget set by the Board.
- Ensure budget is understood by individual department heads and provide regular management reporting
- Identify and manage change effectively through effective communication and a process of continuous improvement.
- Manage all Academy staff so they know what is required of them and can achieve their goals through regular performance management, team meetings, and regular 1:1 meetings.
- Manage player progression through the Head of Coaching and Lead Phase coaches and update the Technical Board on player pathways
- Take the lead on recommending players for scholarships and professional contracts
- Deliver expected services to players and their families through the creation of a Player Charter
- Plan and execute education and welfare standards strategy to help players
- Build and maintain a positive reputation for the Academy through continual dialogue with the Board, the First Team Management, and initiating a feedback mechanism for continuous improvement purposes
- Assist in recruiting new coaches into the academy, encouraging women to take up the opportunity, and deliver off-season programs for players to continue to develop technical skills
- Build a positive club coaching culture and satisfactory player experience
Essential
Criteria:
- B.Sc in a relevant course. A Master’s degree is an added advantage
- Coach certificate in football
- At least 7 years’ experience as a coach or working within a club structure
- Coaching experience with young players
- Sound communication skills
- Possess a sound ability for conflict resolution where necessary
- Possess high levels of organizational and planning skills
- Positive and approachable personality
Experience in:
- Working in an elite sporting environment
- A high performing business environment
- Leading and managing people
- A role involving strategic planning
- Business Management / Financial Management/ Budget Planning
