FOX Sports Carolinas’ 2020-21 coverage of Carolina Hurricanes to begin January 14

RALIEGH – FOX Sports Carolinas, exclusive regional broadcaster of the Carolina Hurricanes, will televise 54 of 56 Hurricanes games for the 2020-21 NHL regular season. Telecasts will be anchored by the network’s flagship pre- and postgame show, Hurricanes LIVE, delivering expert analysis before and after every game. 

 

The Hurricanes will open the season on FOX Sports Carolinas on Thursday, January 14, versus the Detroit Red Wings, with a special one-hour edition of Hurricanes LIVE starting at 6:30 p.m. ET.  

 

Carolina Hurricanes games on FOX Sports Carolinas will be widely available across North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia through cable, satellite and over-the-top providers, including AT&T U-verse, AT&T TV, DirecTV and Spectrum. The network’s complete and real-time schedule can be found here with local channel listings here. Two familiar faces will be in new roles for the broadcasts this season. Mike Maniscalco will serve as the team’s new play-by-play announcer for all telecasts after spending four seasons as in-game reporter and host of Hurricanes LIVE. The Buffalo native has nearly 25 years of on-air experience and has covered the Hurricanes since 2007. Additionally, Abby Labar has been promoted to the host of Hurricanes LIVE and will also serve as in-game reporter. Prior to joining the FOX Sports Carolina’s telecast, Labar spent four seasons as the Hurricanes’ in-arena host and reporter. 

 

Tripp Tracy will return for his 22nd season as game analyst and former Hurricanes player Shane Willis will return for his eighth season as Hurricanes LIVE analyst. 

 

Hurricanes telecasts during the 2020-21 NHL season will require FSCR to follow strict COVID-19 health and safety protocols as mandated by the NHL. Hurricanes home games will be produced on-location from PNC Arena with a limited crew of only essential production personnel. Hurricanes away game telecasts will also be produced from PNC Arena using multiple camera feeds and natural gamesound sourced from the home team’s local telecast. FOX Sports Carolinas broadcasters and production crew will not travel for any Hurricanes away game telecasts this season.   

 

The NHL regular season is scheduled to continue through May 8 with a 16-team Stanley Cup playoff to follow.
