FOX Sports Southeast adds Vince Carter to Hawks broadcast team for select telecasts

ATLANTA –FOX Sports Southeast announced on Monday that eight-time NBA All-Star Vince Carter will join the Atlanta Hawks broadcast team for select marquee telecasts during the 2020-21 regular season.

Carter will make his first appearance on Wednesday, Dec. 30 alongside Emmy-winning play-by-play announcer Bob Rathbun, Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer and analyst Dominique Wilkins, and courtside reporter Kelly Crull. The Hawks will be on the road to take on the Brooklyn Nets at 7 p.m. ET.

“I’m excited for the opportunity to join Bob and ‘Nique on Hawks broadcasts this season,” Carter said. “It’s a great opportunity for me to sharpen my skills breaking down the game and providing analysis for a team that I know so well. I’m looking forward to seeing how the new vets mix in with our young guys as they try to take that next step to making the playoffs.”

The next game for Carter will be Monday, Jan. 18 at 2 p.m. ET when the Hawks host the Minnesota Timberwolves on Martin Luther King Jr. Day. He will return the following Sunday for the Jan. 24 telecast of the Hawks at the Milwaukee Bucks at 7 p.m. ET.

Carter will finish off the First Half of the NBA regular season with back-to-back games in February. He will call the Monday, Feb. 1 game against the 2020 NBA Champion Los Angeles Lakers at 7 p.m. ET and the Wednesday, Feb. 3 game against the Dallas Mavericks at 7 p.m. ET.

It won’t be Carter’s first appearance on a Hawks broadcast. He joined the broadcast on April 3, 2019 as a guest analyst on FOX Sports Southeast while playing for the Hawks. He also provided in-season analysis for television broadcasts while playing for the Memphis Grizzlies, Dallas Mavericks and Sacramento Kings. His broadcast experience also includes calling NBA Summer League contests and providing color commentary for the 2018 Jr. NBA World Championship.

Carter played a total of 22 seasons in the NBA, the only player in league history to play across four decades. He was drafted out of the University of North Carolina with the fifth overall pick by the Golden State Warriors in the 1998 NBA Draft. He was the 1998-99 NBA Rookie of the Year and led the fan voting for the All-Star Game four different seasons. He averaged 16.7 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.1 assists over the course of his NBA career. Carter finished his playing career with the Hawks, playing for the team in the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons.
