Goodwin flirts with triple-double in Billikens’ 78-57 win over UMass

ST. LOUIS —  Jordan Goodwin narrowly missed out on a triple-double, collecting 13 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists in what was likely the final home game of his career as the Saint Louis Billikens routed UMass 78-57 on Monday.

Javonte Perkins had 16 points to lead five Saint Louis players in double figures. Fred Thatch Jr. added 13 points, Hasahn French chipped in 12 and Terrence Hargrove Jr. had 10 for the Billikens (13-5, 6-4 Atlantic 10 Conference).

Noah Fernandes had 16 points for the Minutemen (7-6, 6-4). Carl Pierre added 12 points, and Tre Mitchell had 10 points, four assists and three blocks.

Following the game, the Billikens honored seniors French, Goodwin and walk-on Joshua Hightower for their contributions to the program. A fourth senior, Javonte Perkins, announced Sunday that he’ll return for the 2021-22 season, taking advantage of the NCAA provision granting all basketball players an extra year of eligibility due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
