Gophers stay unbeaten with 3-1 win over Michigan State
The Minnesota Golden Gophers just keep on rolling.
A 3-1 victory over the Michigan State Spartans moved Minnesota to 5-0 after it swept its first two opponents of the season.

The Gophers got started early. Ben Meyers scored first for the Gophers with a strike into the net with 12:39 left in the first period.
With 11:02 to go in the same period, Sampo Ranta worked the puck into the net with a behind-the-back shot and Minnesota went up 2-0.

The Gophers scored again in the second, with a power-play goal from Scott Reedy with 15:51 remaining in the period. That shot was Reedy’s fourth goal of the season, which is tops on the team

Michigan State scored its only goal of the game in the third period which broke up Minnesota goalie Jack LaFontaine’s shutout streak at 143:19 minutes.
The Gophers will be back in action on Friday at 7 p.m. for the second game of their road series against the Spartans.
