Green Bay Packers predictions: Week 4 vs. Falcons

Three games into the 2020 season, the Green Bay Packers are cooking on offense.

Aaron Rodgers looks like an MVP candidate again. The end zone seems to be Aaron Jones’ home address. Green Bay’s offense leads the league with 122 points.

For the second consecutive week, the Packers will play in prime time — a Monday night clash with the 1-2 Atlanta Falcons. While most experts are predicting a Green Bay victory, every prognosis has one thing in common: There will be plenty of points to go around.

Here’s this week’s Packers predictions from around the web:

Barry Wilner of the Associated Press: Packers 34, Falcons 20. “The bottom has fallen out in the ATL, but at least the Falcons won’t blow a lead at Lambeau.”

Pete Prisco of CBSSports.com: Packers 34, Falcons 26. “The Falcons are coming off two major chokes in their past two games. They haven’t looked good on defense at all. The Packers are rolling on offense with Aaron Rodgers and I expect that to stay that way. Packers big.”

NFL.com’s Gregg Rosenthal: Packers 34, Falcons 30. “There is little reason to think Dan Quinn’s Falcons defense, bereft of any edge rushing presence, will be able to bother Aaron Rodgers. There is also little reason to believe Atlanta will stop putting up points against a mediocre Green Bay defense, especially if Julio Jones returns. The Falcons seemingly only know how to lose heartbreakers.”

Sam Farmer of the Los Angeles Times: Packers 34, Falcons 28. “This is the 0-3 Falcons vs. the 3-0 Packers, although it could be more interesting than it seems. The Falcons can’t stop the pass — hello, Aaron Rodgers — but can roll up their share of yards and points.”

John Breech of CBSSports.com: Packers 37, Falcons 30.

Will Brinson of CBSSports.com: Falcons 42, Packers 38. “I could not have been more wrong about the Packers this year and I have openly admitted it. Having said that … I will be betting against them here, because this game is going to be an insane shootout (58 total points and it’s going way over!), and if there’s a shootout happening, you want to be on the side of the team catching seven points because variance is a real thing in football.”

Vinnie Iyer of the Sporting News: Packers 38, Falcons 27. “The Falcons hope they can get Julio Jones back from a hamstring injury. The Packers hope they can get Davante Adams back from a hamstring injury. Regardless, look for Aaron Rodgers and Aaron Jones to light it up in Lambeau and keep up the offense’s high rate of scoring and big plays.”

Bill Blender of the Sporting News: Packers 34, Falcons 28. “It’s about state of mind for the Falcons after back-to-back fourth-quarter collapses against the Cowboys and Bears. The Packers are riding high, but Matt Ryan has a 100.2 career passer rating against Green Bay. The home team has won the last six games in this series. The over is a good play here, too. The Packers round out the 4-0 club heading into a bye week, but it won’t be easy.”

The Miami Herald’s Greg Cote: Packers 27, Lions 20. “That the Falcons are averaging 30 points a game but 0-3 shouts volumes about ATL’s bad defense and inability to hold onto leads. All of it has coach Dan Quinn nearing hot-seat territory. High-flying Aaron Rodgers against this pass defense suggests a Monday night rout (and iffy status of top WRs Julio Jones and Davante Adams complicates the pick), but Dirty Birds have won four of past five on road and watch Matt Ryan keep this one inside the point spread.”

Jordan Dajani of CBSSports.com: Packers 38, Falcons 30.

Philly Voice’s Jimmy Kempski: Packers.

Pro Football Talk’s Michael David Smith and Mike Florio: MDS — Packers 34, Falcons 17. “The Packers’ offense is firing on all cylinders right now, and the Falcons’ defense can’t stop anyone. I don’t think this game will be close.” Florio — Packers 40, Falcons 24.

Berry Tramel of The Oklahoman: Packers 31, Falcons 20.
