Henrik Stenson is 1st to round of 16 at Match Play
AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Henrik Stenson has become the first player to qualify for the final round of 16 at the Dell Technologies Match Play with an easy win over Jim Furyk on Friday.
The pairing was the only matchup of players who had won their first two rounds. Stenson made quick work of it, winning three of the first four holes at the Austin Country Club. He eventually closed it out a 5-and-4 winner.
The 48-year-old Furyk had qualified for the 64-player field with a runner-up finish in The Players Championship two weeks ago.
Tiger Woods is in the tournament for the first time since 2013 and must beat Patrick Cantlay in his final match of the round-robin stage to advance to the weekend elimination rounds.
