Hudson to undergo Tommy John surgery on right elbow
The St. Lous Cardinals announced Dakota Hudson will undergo Tommy John surgery on his right elbow on Monday.
Hudson exited his Sept. 17 start after just two innings against the Pirates. His injury originally was labeled a right forearm strain.
Hudson put together a solid rookie campaign in 2019, posting a 16-7 record, a 3.35 ERA in 174.2 innings. In 2020, Hudson owns a 3-2 record with a 2.77 ERA in 39 innings.
Hudson’s projected recovery time after undergoing Tommy John surgery is nine to twelve months.
The Cardinals have optioned reliever Nabil Crismatt to the alternate site and activated outfielder Austin Dean from the 10-day IL.
