The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo State has faulted the suspension of Governor Rochas Okorocha by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party.

APC Chairman in the state, Daniel Nwafor, also called on President Muhammadu Buhari to caution the party’s National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole.

Addressing newsmen at the APC Secretariat in Owerri the Imo state capital, Nwafor describes the action as null and void and does not hold waters.

“The act yesterday to suspend Imo State governor is a mere distraction. It is a distraction because the action in itself is a nullity.

“When the National Working Committee says that they have suspended the governor of the state, the first pertinent question to ask is on what strength did they suspend the governor?” he questioned.

Nwafor also accused Oshiomhole of destroying the party in the state, calling for his immediate resignation.

According to him, the APC National Chairman could not deliver votes from the state to President Buhari in the just concluded presidential election.

He warned him to steer clear from the politics of the state as members would resist moves to destroy the party.

“Every member of Imo APC has asked me to ask Mr Adams Oshiomhole to immediately tender his resignation. He has caused so much harm to this party.

“His plan to destroy this party in this state and in the south-east will fail”.

The National Working Committee of the party on Friday suspended the governors of Imo and Ogun States, Rochas Okorocha and Ibikunle Amosun, following allegations of anti-party activities levelled against them.
