LaFontaine posts another shutout, Gophers beat Notre Dame 3-0
It was the Jack LaFontaine show once again Saturday night.
More Gophers coverage
One night after recording 24 saves in Minnesota’s 3-0 victory Friday, LaFontaine stopped another 28 shots Saturday as the Gophers beat Notre Dame 3-0 to complete the weekend sweep.
It was LaFontaine’s fifth career shutout.
After a scoreless first period, Brannon McManus broke the tie with a goal at the 4:09 mark of the second. He finished off a beautiful backhand pass from Sampo Ranta.

Nathan Burke lit the lamp just two minutes later for a 2-0 Gophers lead. And Ranta finished off Minnesota’s win with a goal late in the third period, his 14th of the season.
The No. 5 Gophers return to the ice Friday and Saturday for a home series against Michigan State. Minnesota swept the Spartans by scores 3-1 and 4-2 earlier this season.
