On Sunday, she claimed an eighth World Championship top-three finish to go with 137 World Cup podiums, as well as a trio of Olympic medals. It had briefly been feared that Vonn would be unable to take part in her farewell race after suffering a nasty fall in the World Championships super-G, her penultimate race, on February 5.With 82 wins, she ends her illustrious career as the most successful female skier of all time, 20 wins ahead of Austria’s Annemarie Moser-Proll. Mikaela Shiffrin, however, the 23-year-old heir to Vonn’s US throne, already has 56 victories to her name.
