Dangerfield was named the WNBA Rookie of the Month for August, the league announced Tuesday. It’s the first monthly honor distributed by the WNBA in 2020 since the regular season began in late July.
A second-round pick by Minnesota (16th overall), Dangerfield has started 14 of 16 contests for the Lynx this season and is averaging 15.9 points and 3.1 assists per game. She leads the league in fourth-quarter points (102) and is shooting 62.5% in the final frame.
Dangerfield is the fourth Lynx player to earn a monthly award, joining Candice Wiggins (2008), Maya Moore (twice in 2011) and Napheesa Collier (2019). Moore and Collier were eventually named Rookie of the Year.
