Job Title: Manager, Credit Management

Location: Lagos

Job Description

  • Oversee the development and implementation of credit management policies and provide coordination for credit assessment, credit performance and debt recovery operations
  • Support the shareholder return strategy by developing and implementing finance processes that are aligned to achieving all elements on the business score card. (i.e. grow market share, grow ICT & data revenue, increase Ebitda margins, assure revenue, Capex returns management and net subscriber additions).
  • Participate in the review of business processes (headcount, process optimisation, etc.), to drive efficiency gains to ensure at least 5% reduction in divisional budget year-on-year.
  • Take appropriate managerial action to ensure targets are met or exceeded when routinely monitored (sales, trend, and profitability analysis, profit margins, return on investment (roi), market share and value).
  • Serve the division’s internal customers and provide solutions to improve the customer experience.
  • Strategic partnerships with MTNN leadership team to drive awareness on expected behaviours and impact on non-compliance on bottom line results and company image/reputation.
  • Drive planned strategy for the successful delivery of MTN group and mtnn transformation initiatives focusing on customer centricity, including perfect 10 project.
  • Drive an increase in MTNN’s net promoter score.
  • Network and build solid relationships with internal units and relevant third parties (e.g. strategic investors, technical and finance partners, business consultants etc.) And develop a close working relationship with relevant information sources to provide an integrated service.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with internal and external suppliers.
  • Aggregate and develop annual credit portfolio plan in collaboration with business line managers
  • Analyse credit request in line with company’s credit management policy
  • Recommend limits based on assessment score card/templates and team leads’ recommendation.
  • Review and approve credit request within the delegated limit
  • Recommend bad debt write-off to the gm treasury and management credit committee (mcc)
  • Oversee the coordination of credit assessment , performance review and recovery efforts to achieve MTNN credit management objectives
  • Prepare credit management reports in line with credit management policy
  • Consolidate divisional credit portfolio performance and provide updates to the gm, treasury
  • Work (in coordinating role) closely with all team leads and analysts in credit management unit to ensure the appropriate application and implementation of credit management policies.
  • Review credit terms to ensure that all requirements are met before approved credit becomes operational
  • Continuously seek self-professional development to sharpen skills and capabilities in a versatile and evolving digital landscape.
  • Coach and train the team to ensure understanding of the objectives and goals of the department, awareness of set targets/requirements and regularly review their training needs.
  • Review performance of individual team members and complete appraisals in accordance with the employee performance appraisal procedures and time schedules.

Requirements, Experience & Training
Education:

  • First degree in Business Administration, General Management, Finance or Economics
  • Fluent in English
  • Professional certification in business administration or general management or finance or law.

Experience:

  • 6-13 years’ experience which includes:
    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an area of specialisation; with experience in supervising/managing others
  • Experience working in a medium to large organization
  • Relevant experience in end-to-end credit or risk management process and/or compliance or consulting experience.
  • Accounting/book keeping experience
  • Proficiency use of ms office
  • Knowledge of the telecoms industry.

Training:

  • Basic GSM
  • Credit management fundamentals
  • Systems/applications appreciation training

Minimum Qualification

  • B.Sc, B.Tech, B.Ed, BA or HND.
