McManus, Walker get hat tricks as Gophers pummel Arizona State 10-0
Brannon McManus and Sammy Walker each had hat tricks as the Minnesota Gophers routed Arizona State 10-0 Thursday night.
It’s the first time in 17 years the Gophers reached double-digits in scoring.
Jack LaFontaine recorded his third shutout of the season in net for the Gophers.
Minnesota raced out to a four-goal lead in the first period thanks to a pair of goals by Blake McLaughlin. Sammy Walker and Nathan Burke also scored in the opening frame.

Minnesota kept the pressure on, scoring three goals in the second period as Brannon McManus scored a pair and Walker added his second of the night.
Scoring at 13:43 in the third period, McManus recorded the first hat trick of the game and with just over a minute to play, Walker notched the second. Ben Meyers also added a goal in the final period.
