Meet the 2020 Packers: Fun facts about your favorite players

Believe it or not, football – well, the NFL in these parts – is back.

We had no preseason in 2020 but the Green Bay Packers’ first regular-season game – to be played Sept. 13 — is creeping up.

With that comes inundation of statistics, and maybe this year a little more getting familiar with a roster.

We scoured through the Packers’ media guide and came up with some different and interesting facts about a number of players. While your friends are dishing out the number of touchdowns Aaron Jones had last season, you can enlighten them on which player is an accomplished drummer, who once worked for an MLS team and whose dad was an All-American pole vaulter at Wisconsin.

(And if you’re saying, hey, you’ve done this before. Well, yeah, in 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019. But not one fact from those editions appear in this year’s.)

Davante Adams: Leads NFL in receiving touchdowns (40) and games with at least one TD catch (32) since 2016.

Montravius Adams: Has two sons – Montravius Jr. and Montravius III.

David Bakhtiari: Older brother, Eric, players linebacker for the Tennessee Titans (2009) and San Francisco 49ers (2012).

Oren Burks: Cousin is pro basketball player Andrew White.

Kenny Clark: According to NFL Next Gen Stats, ranked No. 2 in the league in 2019 with 49 QB pressures and 43 disruptions among players that play at least 75% of their snaps on the interior defensive line.

Mason Crosby: Ranks 23rd in NFL history in scoring.

Josiah Deguara: Served as an operations intern in college with FC Cincinnati of Major League Soccer.

A.J. Dillon: His grandfather, Thom Gatewood, was the first African-American captain in Notre Dame history, and was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2015.

Rashan Gary: Nickname is “Bane Gary.”

Kadar Hollman: In sixth and seventh grade, ranked third in the state of New Jersey in the 100-meter dash.

Josh Jackson: Father, Paul, was a pitcher and attended spring training with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Elgton Jenkins: Nickname is “Big E.”

Aaron Jones: Rushed for 28 TDs from 2017-19, the most by a Packer in his first three NFL seasons.

Christian Kirksey: Has played the drums since he was 7 years old and showcased his talent on “MVP: Most Valuable Performer,” a CBS special in 2018.

Jake Kumerow: Father, Eric, was a first-round pick (No. 16 overall) by Miami in the 1988 NFL draft and played three seasons with the Dolphins.

Allen Lazard: As a senior in high school, was ranked the No. 1 prospect in Iowa by Rivals.com.

Marcedes Lewis: One of nine tight ends in NFL history to play in 200+ games and post 300+ receptions.

Alex Light: Worked in Richmond’s equipment department while on the football team in college.

JK Scott: Father, Kim, held indoor and outdoor pole vaulting records at Wisconsin, where he was a two-time All-American.

Za’Darius Smith: Older brother, Bob Meeks, played center at Auburn (1988-91) and for the Denver Broncos (1992-94).

Equanimeous St. Brown: Full name is Equanimeous Tristan Imhotep J. St. Brown … Nickname is “EQ.”

Chandon Sullivan: Hopes to pursue a career in broadcasting after his football career is finished.

Billy Turner: Brother, Bryan Kehl, was a fourth-round pick of the New York Giants in 2008 and played for the Giants, St. Louis Rams, Kansas City and Washington.

Jamaal Williams: His mother, Nicolle, was a sprinter at UCLA.

Tim Williams: Alabama coaches gave him the nickname “Soldado,” which is Spanish for “soldier.”
