Mizzou DE Williams gets probation after pleading to misdemeanor
COLUMBIA, Mo. — Missouri defensive end Tre Williams pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor and was sentenced to two years of unsupervised probation after prosecutors dropped a felony domestic assault charge.
The Columbia Daily Tribune reports Williams pleaded guilty to peace disturbance and was sentenced July 11. Williams was arrested in December after a woman told police he hit her several times while she was driving and tried to wreck her car. Columbia police said the woman said Williams began choking her after she threw his cellphone from the car.
Williams was indefinitely suspended after his arrest and missed the Tigers‘ game in the Liberty Bowl.
Coach Barry Odom said at SEC Media Days this week that Williams’ status hadn’t changed but he hoped to have the issue resolved soon.
