The competition is the latest event in a jam-packed schedule leading up to Tuesday’s MLB All-Star Game (8 p.m. ET on FOX and the FOX Sports app). The festivities kicked off this weekend, as baseball’s best prospects dazzled in Saturday’s MLB All-Star Futures Game, followed by the 2022 MLB Draft beginning Sunday.

New York Mets slugger Pete Alonso is aiming to become the first player to win three straight Derbies after coming out on top in 2019 and ’21. (No All-Star events were held in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.)
In addition to Alonso, this year’s field of eight includes Atlanta Braves outfielder Ronald Acuña Jr., Cleveland Guardians third baseman José Ramírez, Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Kyle Schwarber, Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager, Seattle Mariners outfielder Julio Rodríguez, St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Albert Pujols and Washington Nationals outfielder Juan Soto.
The winner gets $1 million of the $2.5 million prize pool.
The seeding for the opening round is based on the number of home runs the players have hit this season, as of July 13. The bracket is No. 1 Schwarber vs. No. 8 Pujols, No. 2 Alonso vs. No. 7 Acuña Jr., No. 3 Seager vs. No. 6 Rodríguez and No. 4 Soto vs. No. 5 Ramírez.
Each player gets three minutes in the first round to hit as many home runs as he can.
Ahead of the action, FOX Sports MLB Analysts Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman gave baseball fans a tour of Chavez Ravine and broke down where the best place to catch a home run is at Dodger Stadium.
