Murder Of Fasoranti’s Daughter: Police SWAT Arrest Three More Suspects

Three more suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder of Olufunke Olakunri, daughter of the former National Leader of the Pan Yoruba Socio-political Group, Afenifere, Pa Reuben Fasoranti.

The suspects were said to have been arrested by men of the Criminal Investigative Department (CID) and the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team of the Nigerian Police Force.

Olakunrin was murdered by armed men suspected to be kidnappers in July 2019, while traveling along the Lagos/Ore/Benin Highway.

The murder case has been in court since August 2020, but the resumed hearing was stalled on Tuesday as the State Director of Public Prosecutions, Grace Olowoporoku notified the court of the arrest of the suspects.

Olowoporoku who is the Chief Prosecution Counsel, therefore, applied for a short adjournment of the case, to allow police investigations to be concluded on the new Suspects.

The trial Judge, Justice Bode Adegbehingbe subsequently adjourned the case till April 27, 29, 30, and May 5, 2021.

Meanwhile, four suspects had earlier been arrested and being arraigned in court in connection with the crime on a three-count of conspiracy to kill murder, and kidnapping.
