NCAA bracketology roundup: Badgers on collision course with No. 6 seed?
Believe it or not, the month of March has arrived. That means March Madness is closer than ever.
As the college basketball season heats up, FOX Sports Wisconsin rounds up what experts are saying about which seed the Wisconsin Badgers will be assigned in the NCAA tournament. This is the fifth edition of the 2020-21 bracket roundup.
The Wisconsin Badgers men’s basketball team just has two opportunities left to give its resume an assist before postseason play begins.
More Badgers coverage
A pair of road contests, against No. 23 Purdue on Tuesday, followed by a showdown versus No. 5 Iowa on Sunday, leaves No. 25 Wisconsin the chance to finish its 2020-21 regular season on a high note. The Badgers fell, 69-74, to No. 4 Illinois over the weekend, despite scoring 43 second-half points.
It’s clear Wisconsin is still searching for a signature win. The Badgers have lost their last six games against ranked opponents, dating back to Dec. 31 and a 12-point home victory over then-No. 21 Minnesota. Back-to-back games on the road should help prepare the Badgers for what’s bound to be a daunting Big Ten Tournament, likely featuring six teams ranked in the top-25.
Considering the above, it’s promising to see Wisconsin as a borderline No. 6 seed. That’s where Bracket Matrix, a site dedicated to gathering predictions from across the web, positioned the Badgers (5.80) in Sunday’s latest forecasting.
Highlighting a few of the notable brackets we’re tracking throughout the season, Wisconsin’s stock seems to be treading steadily. ESPN and Sports Illustrated have the Badgers as a No. 5 seed, while The Athletic and CBS predict a No. 6 seed and No. 7 seed, respectively.
Wisconsin was included in 99 of 100 brackets listed — surely, a good sign for Badgers fans.
