NFI Distribution Assistant (for NHF Project) at Salient Humanitarian Organization (SHO)

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: NFI Distribution Assistant (for NHF Project)

Location: (Maiduguri base) North-East Nigeria
Starting Date: September, 2020
Duration of Contract: 6 Months (Extendable)
Reporting to: Project Coordinator

General Context of the Job/Project

• This position falls under the direct management of SALIENT’s CCCM Specialist and CCCM PC
• SALIENT’s NFI Distribution Assistant will play an integral part of the camp management team of ensuring that all inhabitants of the camp are living a safe, secured and dignified life. Under the Direct line Supervision of the CCCM Project, the coordinator is responsible for the implementation of the various operations of the Response which include distribution of none food items in line with NHFs mission.

Job Description

• Participate in sensitization, verification exercise of beneficiaries at the registry point during NFI distribution.
• Participate in enforcing crowd control mechanisms that will ensure an orderly and successful distribution. This includes fencing off the stacking area of the distribution site as agreed with the field monitor, arranging beneficiaries in line.
• Conduct community mobilization whenever assigned.
• Supervise offloading, random weighing and stacking of NFI’s at the distribution sites.
• Ensure that distribution materials are in good shape and loaded into the vehicle at the time of departure to the field and return from the distribution point.
• Participate in distribution of NFI’s as assigned
• Report, immediately, any incidences of fraud witnessed to the field monitor or any person for immediate action to be taken.
• Take part in data entry.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the CCCM Team Lead and Project coordinator.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Completion of OND / HND / University Degree in Development Studies, Humanities, Social Sciences, or another relevant degree
• Minimum one year of experience in international and/or local NGO; ideally involved in the direct implementation of field level humanitarian assistance to refugees or IDPs.
• Experience in community services, women empowerment, youth activities, protection, distribution or registration.

• Highly flexible, with the ability to use initiative.

• Understanding of gender, protection and human rights.
• Commitment to promoting gender equality.

Preferred experience:

• Proven professional experience working with NGO at a relevant position e.g enumerator, monitor, field and community worker.
• Experience working for NGOs and/ or in Camp setting is a must.
• Experience using Kobo, or other mobile data collection technology
• Experience Working in Northeast Nigeria is a Must
• Positive attitude and a willingness to learn
• Written and spoken fluency in English, Hausa or Kanuri and additional fluency in other local languages an added advantage.
• Ability and Willingness to follow instructions.

Brief Conditions
