No. 3 Gophers fall to Michigan 5-2

The No. 3-ranked Minnesota Golden Gophers dropped to 19-6 after a 5-2 loss to the Michigan Wolverines on Friday night.

Michigan went up 1-0 in the first period, but Minnesota’s Bryce Brodzinki tied the game up with 9:49 to go in the second period.

The Gophers were not able to keep up in the second, as the Wolverines scored two more goals in the frame and entered the second intermission up 3-1.

Minnesota’s Sampo Ranta fired in a goal to make it 3-2 with eight minutes left in the game.

Unfortunately for the Gophers, Michigan would score two more times in the third period to win 5-2.

Minnesota closes out its final home series of the season with a game against the Wolverines on Saturday at 4 p.m.
