Defensive end Ifeadi Odenigbo, linebacker Cameron Smith and tackle Oli Udoh will begin training camp on the reserve/COVID-19 list. Justin Jefferson, the 22nd overall pick of the 2020 draft, as well as fellow rookies Blake Brandel (sixth-rounder), Brian Cole II (seventh-rounder) and Tyler Higby (undrafted) were placed there Monday.

Defensive tackle Michael Pierce, the Vikings’ prized free-agent acquisition, opted out of the 2020 season Tuesday.

With seven players on the reserve/COVID-19 list and Pierce opting out, Minnesota’s roster stands at 79 players.

The reserve/COVID-19 list was created for players who either test positive for coronavirus or who has been quarantined after being in close contact with an infected person. Teams are not permitted to comment on an individual’s medical status other than placing them on the reserve/COVID-19 list.
