Packers’ Adams given fifth-highest rating among receivers in Madden 21

For whatever reason, Green Bay Packers receiver Davante Adams always seems to be overlooked.

He’s the top receiver on one of the NFL’s best passing attacks. He recorded double-digit touchdowns in three straight seasons from 2016-18 and has been named to the last three Pro Bowls.

Adams constantly gets left off top 10 lists and is rarely mentioned in conversations surrounding elite receivers like Julio Jones, Michael Thomas and DeAndre Hopkins.

But that wasn’t the case in the official player ratings in Madden 21.

Adams received an overall rating of 94, which ranks fifth among NFL receivers and second on the Packers.

New Orleans’ Michael Thomas (99), Arizona’s DeAndre Hopkins (98), Atlanta’s Julio Jones (97) and Kansas City’s Tyreek Hill (96) are the only receivers ahead of Adams.

Adams’ quarterback Aaron Rodgers didn’t see the same recognition, though.

Rodgers, who was given a perfect 99 rating two years ago in Madden 19, was handed an overall rating of 89. It ranked sixth among NFL quarterbacks behind Patrick Mahomes, Russell Wilson, Lamar Jackson, Drew Brees and 42-year-old Tom Brady.

His counterpart at quarterback, first-round pick Jordan Love, was given an overall rating of 71. Joe Burrow (76) and Tua Tagovailoa (73) were the only two rookie quarterbacks to be rated higher.

For the second straight year, David Bakhtiari leads Green Bay with an overall rating of 96. That’s tied with Kansas City’s Mitchell Schwartz for the highest rating compared to other NFL tackles.

Other notes:

— There are five players with an overall rating of 99 – Thomas, Los Angeles defensive end Aaron Donald, Carolina running back Christian McCaffrey, Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes and New England cornerback Stephon Gilmore.

— Aaron Jones, Jaire Alexander and Kenny Clark all boast a rating of 90 – one point higher than Rodgers.

— The fastest player on Green Bay’s roster? It’s a tie between four players. Alexander, Ka’Dar Hollman, Darnell Savage and Marquez Valdes-Scantling all have a speed rating of 93. The slowest? Right tackle Alex Light.

— Clark is the strongest player on the Packers’ roster with a 95-strength rating. Besdies punter J.K. Scott, the weakest Packers player is safety Raven Greene (56).

— Besides the three quarterbacks on roster, linebacker Ty Summers has the best throwing power on the team (70). Summers starred as a dual-threat quarterback in high school in San Antonio and received Ivy League offers to play under center before signing with TCU and changing positions.
