Burgess was signed by Green Bay off Atlanta’s practice squad on Saturday. To make room on the roster, the Packers waived guard Ben Braden.
Burgess, in his fourth NFL season, has appeared in 27 career games for Cleveland and the New York Jets. In 2019, Burgess tallied 80 tackles, eight tackles for loss, five passes defense and one fumble recovery for New York.
Green Bay needed depth at linebacker after starter Christian Kirksey was placed on injured reserve in early October. Rookie Kamal Martin made his first career start at linebacker on Sunday and made six tackles.
