Packers betting big on backup QB Tim Boyle’s progress

The Green Bay Packers are either enamored of Boyle or supremely confident in Aaron Rodgers’ 35-year-old frame. Boyle, 24, is the only other quarterback on the roster following Saturday’s cuts, which included former Cleveland Browns starter DeShone Kizer, Rodgers’ backup last season. A former undrafted free agent, Boyle impressed in the preseason, throwing for 356 yards and six touchdowns with a 112.9 passer rating and no interceptions. Rodgers missed much of the 2017 season with a broken collarbone, then spent most of last season playing through a knee injury.
