Packers select Rashan Gary with 12th overall pick in 2019 NFL Draft

The Green Bay Packers used the 12th pick of the 2019 NFL Draft to select former Michigan defensive lineman Rashan Gary.

Gary, who stands 6-foot-4 and 277 pounds, played three seasons for the Wolverines from 2016-18. He tallied 57 tackles, 23 tackles for loss and 9.5 sacks. Gary was named to the first team All-Big Ten in his junior and senior seasons.

The 21-year-old was the top-ranked recruit in his position coming out of high school. Known for his athleticism and power, Gary ran a 4.58 40-yard dash at the combine.

Green Bay’s defense looks much improved on paper with Gary joining free-agent acquisitions Za’Darius Smith, Preston Smith and safety Adrian Amos.

The Packers also own the No. 30 overall pick as well as four other selections inside the first four rounds.
