Packers Snap Counts: Lazard gets action in return

Allen Lazard, it was great to have you back.

After missing a month-and-half due after undergoing core-muscle surgery, Lazard was back on the field Sunday against Indianapolis.

Sure, Lazard certainly was not the difference in the game for the Green Bay Packers, but with all the top teams in the NFC jockeying for playoff positioning, it will probably help the Packers having him back in the fold moving forward.

Lazard played 36 of Green Bay’s 60 offensive snaps on Sunday (60%) and caught two passes on four targets for 18 yards.

The only Packers skill players to see the field more than him were Davante Adams (95%), Marquez Valdes-Scantling (85%) and Robert Tonyan (73%).

Lazard normally is in that company of playing time, but the Packers likely were easing him back in after not having seen the field since Week 3. In Green Bay’s first three games, Lazard saw 87.2%, 83.6% and 95.2% of the offensive snaps.

In his first game back, Lazard was not as big a part of the offensive game plan, but he is still a big-body receiver who caught 13 balls for 254 yards and two touchdowns in the first three games of the season. His time will come.

Other notes from Sunday’s snap counts:

— Packers running backs Aaron Jones and Jamaal Williams each played 30 snaps, exactly 50% of Green Bay’s 60 total snaps each. Jones ran 10 times for 41 yards and a score and added four catches for 30 yards. Williams rushed five times for 12 yards and caught one pass for four yards that went for a touchdown.

— Valdes-Scantling’s 51 offensive snaps were second-most of any Green Bay skill player, behind only Adams. His last snap was obviously crucial in the Packers’ demise, but it shows that coach Matt LaFleur and the staff are trusting him to be on the field more often.

— Green Bay defensive end Billy Winn was only on the field for seven of the Packers’ 84 defensive snaps, but he made those snaps count. His only recorded statistic was a pass defensed, but that pass broken up popped up in the air and landed in the arms of Christian Kirksey.

— After missing time coming into this game, Green Bay starting cornerbacks Jaire Alexander and Kevin King each played 100% of the defensive snaps. Alexander only missed the Jacksonville Jaguars game while King was out since the Packers’ 30-16 win over the Atlanta Falcons on Oct. 5. King made seven tackles in his return and Alexander finished with five tackles and two passes defensed.

— Packers center Corey Linsley played 10 offensive snaps (17%) before leaving the game with a back injury. Green Bay moved Elgton Jenkins to center and put in rookie Jon Runyan Jr. to play at left guard. Runyan played 50 snaps (83%), while the rest of the normal starting offensive line (Jenkins, Lucas Patrick, David Bahktiari and Billy Turner) all played all 60 snaps.
