PDP Hails Supreme Court Ruling On Zamfara Election
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday commended the ruling of the Supreme Court on the governorship election in Zamfara State.
This came shortly after the apex court struck out an application by the All Progressives Congress (APC), asking it to review its judgment on the governorship election in the state.
In a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, the PDP faulted the ruling party for filing the application in the first place.
It said, “By so doing, the Supreme Court has once again saved our nation from a huge constitutional crisis that could have devastated our constitutional democracy and corporate existence as a nation.
“The PDP describes the demand by the APC to the Supreme Court as blasphemous, blackmail, as well as a measured landmine set by APC leaders in their desperation to ambush and destroy the integrity of the apex court.”
“The motive of the APC leaders is to ultimately sequester the institution of the judiciary and foist a totalitarian order on our polity,” it alleged.

The PDP also accused APC of seeking to subvert the nation’s democratic system and force a system that was strange to democracy on Nigerians.
“APC’s demand is a direct threat to our democracy, peace and stability of our nation and shows its unwillingness, as a party, to abide by the rule of law.
“It also exposes APC’s penchant for sowing crisis in our nation; a situation that should be condemned by all,” the opposition party said.
It, however, urged Nigerians, the institutions of democracy, as well as the security agencies, to be cautious of those it said have shown that they were not committed to the unity and stability of the nation.
