Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has presented the 2020 Appropriation Bill of over N167 billion to members of the State House of Assembly.

A breakdown of the estimate shows that capital expenditure gulps 57 per cent of the budget while recurrent expenditure represents 43 per cent.

The bill tagged “Budget of Renewal of Hope,” is less than the figure proposed in the last two previous years.

Education has the lion’s share with over N26 billion representing 16.10 per cent, closely followed by the health sector with a proposal of over N25 billion representing 15.41 per cent.

In his presentation, Governor Mohammed explained that the idea of the reduction was to avoid an overly ambitious budget that does not achieve implementation goals.

He listed the areas of priority in the budget as health, education, agriculture, job creation, women and youth development, as well as poverty reduction and community development.
