Police Arrest 13 Suspected Armed Robbers, Others In Katsina
The police have arrested 13 suspected armed robbers terrorising residents of the Government Residential Area (GRA) in Katsina.
They were arrested during a raid on their hideout based on credible intelligence and were said to have taken part in a series of robbery attacks in Katsina State.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Gambo Isah, disclosed this to reporters on Thursday at the command headquarters in Katsina.
He noted that the suspects have been scaling through fences of several houses, especially in the GRA, and had so far stolen three different cars – two of which have been recovered by the police.
According to Isah, one Muhammad Garba conspired with one Sirajo Mai-Akuya – who is at large – to steal a Toyota Corolla car with registration number BS 428 KW.
He explained that the suspects were on their way to Kano State with the stolen vehicle when a man who knew the owner of the car saw them and followed them up.
The command spokesman said the man traced the suspects to a place in Bichi Local Government Area of Kano where he raised an alarm, a development that led to the arrest of the two occupants of the car.
He added that elsewhere, the police arrested two notorious Indian hemp dealers in Katsina on November 12.
Hayatu Rabi’u and Salahuddin Salisu were arrested with 51 carefully sealed loaves of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.
Isah noted that all the suspects confessed that they committed the crime during investigations and the police would take the appropriate actions thereafter.
