Police Kill Six Bandits, Rescue 23 Victims In Katsina
The Katsina State Police Command has killed six bandits and rescued 23 victims at Lambo village in Wurma Ward of Kurfi Local Government Area of the state.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Police Public Relations Officer, Gambo Isah confirmed this in a statement on Tuesday.
Isah who said the rescued victims consist of 17 women and six children, noted that the police also gunned down six of the bandits, recovered 74 rustled animals along with 12 motorcycles.
“Search parties are still combing the area with a view to arrest more suspected bandits and/or recover their dead bodies, investigation is ongoing,” he said.
“The command has received additional units of mobile police personnel and brand new vehicles to fight banditry in Katsina including many armoured personnel carriers. More are still coming.”
The police spokesman said the bandits attacked the village on December 29, adding that they shot sporadically with AK-47 rifles, killed two persons, and kidnapped their victims.
However, combined personnel of the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigerian Army, and the Nigerian Air Force were alerted and they blocked all their possible escape routes.
