Police Parade Suspected Killers Of Personnel, Others In Bayelsa

The Bayelsa State Police Command has paraded some suspects who allegedly killed its personnel guarding a hotel on March 16, 2019.

Also paraded were some others who committed varying degrees of crimes across the state.

Parading the suspects at the Command Headquarters in Yenagoa, the state Commissioner of Police, Uche Anozia, said the police also arrested the suspected killers of some corps members in Izi-Victory International School.

The police boss explained that the arrest was made possible following the launch of Operation Puff Adder by the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu.

“On June 20, 2019, Operatives of the Operation Puff Adder acted on a tip-off and arrested one Ebimobowei Adisemo, Lance Corporal Williams Gbabofa and Ikpi Malafakumo along East-West road who were coming to Yenagoa for an armed robbery operation with one Black Toyota SUV with number BRA 94BU and one Ash Totota Corolla with number YEN 55HP.

“Upon interrogation, operatives arrested one Jackson Dakolo, a member of the gang who confessed that the gang was responsible for the attack on policemen at Udeme Hotel Yenagoa.”

Exhibits recovered from the suspects include two AK-47 rifles, 40 locally made cartridge-loading pistols, 26 locally made revolver pistols, seven Dane guns, 67 cartridges, 936 7.62 mm ammunition, three fabricated AK-47 riffles.

Others include 186 .9mm, two Beretta pistols, one General Purpose Gun (GPG), five empty magazines, two jack knives among several others.

CP Anozia revealed that the former Corps members –  Oluwatobi Popoola and George Onokpoma were killed on March 20, 2019, at about 10:30 pm after the six gunmen invaded their residence in Swali community, Yenagoa.

According to him, the attackers stole their valuables including Infix X601 phone belonging to the deceased corps members.

The commissioner also vowed that the suspects will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
