Job Descriptions

  • The Procurement Manager is responsible for the efficient, timely and cost effective sourcing and procurement of fitfor-purpose and quality goods and services for the company according to budget and requirement/specification.
  • The jobholder will develop and deliver sourcing strategies; develop and ensure the implementation of good procurement practices across the organization; manage vendors and suppliers; and work with business managers to optimize spending and achieve departmental and corporate goals within budget.

Key Responsibilities
Sourcing:

  • Ensure clear communications of business requirements during sourcing to ensure alignment of all parties to corporate/business objectives
  • Identify potential suppliers and manage existing suppliers; build and maintain good working relationships
  • Negotiate and secure contracts for supplies and other product and service requirements
  • Evaluate bids and make recommendations based on commercial and technical factors/criteria

Vendor, Supplier & Contract Management:

  • Monitor vendor agreements, vendor performance requirements and product performance expectations
  • Monitor contract performance and progress, including product/service quality, timelines and other applicable performance measures Ensure organizational adherence to contract terms and other service conditions; ensure timely payment of vendors and suppliers  Ensure reduction in invoices processing costs, etc.
  • Manage vendor relations. Identify, recommend, and execute initiatives processes to improve vendor performance
  • Review, design and Implement and ensure adherence to best practices regarding vendor and payables management.

Research & Analysis:

  • Lead research to ascertain the best products and suppliers in terms of value, delivery schedules and quality; procurement and relevant trends and practices as well as their implications for the business
  • Continually evaluate products and services offered by existing and prospective vendors.
  • Forecast price trends and their impact on future activities

Compliance  & Reporting:

  • Establish and ensure adherence to proper controls in procurement process
  • Maintain appropriate security and control over fixed assets
  • Coordinate periodic inventory checks or reconciliation of the fixed asset sub-ledger
  • Conduct spot-audits of assets capitalized within the financial records
  • Produce period management and ad-hoc reports as required

Team Leadership and Management:

  • Provide supervision, direction and leadership for the Procurement function
  • Undertake other tasks as assigned or required for the job role
  • Develop and automate best practices in document management / record keeping as it relates to purchase orders

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in Business, Procurement or related discipline. Masters degree preferred
  • Professional Certification in Procurement or Supply Chain Management is an added advantage
  • Demonstrated knowledge of business processes and practices relating to purchasing and contracting – sourcing and tendering; tender evaluation; pricing etc
