We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Protection Monitor

Locations: Ngala and Damasak
Slots: 8 Openings (Ngala (5), Damasak (3))
Reporting to: Protection Monitor Team Leader

Role Purpose

  • The protection monitor is in charge of conducting a range of protection activities, including information provision and participatory protection assessments of target beneficiaries
  • The post holder works in close cooperation and coordination with other team members and reports to the Protection Officer.

Key Job Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular field participatory protection monitoring and assessments, using as much as possible an age, gender and diversity approach, in order to fully understand protection concerns and priorities.
  • Enhance and facilitate discussion on main protection concerns and response capacity within the displaced and the host communities.
  • Identify and assess the needs of the most vulnerable individuals, particularly women at risk, and the available response opportunities in accordance with set guidelines, plans and schedules.
  • Conduct vulnerability assessment and identify cases for assistance according to pre- defined criteria.
  • Refer protection cases to the Protection Monitor Team Leader
  • Ensure dissemination of clear and reliable information on service provision and other pre- selected key topics.
  • Conduct Focus Group Discussion on protection topics , in close collaboration with Protection Monitor Team Leader
  • Liaise with Community leaders and Protection Action Groups
  • Conduct information sessions, record feedback and report results back to Protection Monitor Team Leader on issues of concern with recommended areas of intervention..
  • Any other tasks assigned by Protection Monitor Team Leader or Protection Officer

Qualifications and Skills
Essential:

  • Previous professional experience in the humanitarian sector.
  • Proven ability to work as part of a team
  • Strong understanding of the situation of protection context in Borno State.
  • Strong communitaction skills.
  • Knowledge of Hausa language.
  • Strong report writing skills
  • Commitment to and understanding of INTERSOS’s aims, values and principles including rights-based approaches Application Process.

Desirable:

  • University Degree in Social Sciences or related field
  • Good English, written and spoken
  • Previous experience in protection programs.
