Nutri K Limited is a subsidiary of Nutriset Group which was established to provide technical support in the specialized manufacturing, commercialization and distribution process of ready to-use food for the treatment and prevention of malnutrition in Nigeria.

With a population of nearly 180 million people, Nigeria is the biggest economy in Africa. However, every year, over 500,000 children under the age of five years old die from malnutrition. About 1.7million of Nigerian children suffer from severe acute malnutrition, and close to a third of the 10 million under 5 age children suffer from chronic malnutrition; NUTRIK LTD is dedicated to the fight against malnutrition in Nigeria. The company specialized in manufacturing nutritional food used for the care of children affected by malnutrition. NUTRIK supplies humanitarian and health programmes with high quality ready-to-use-therapeutic and supplementary food (RUTF, RUSF), as well as lipid-based nutrient supplements (LNS).

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Quality Manager

Location: Kano
Contract Duration: Permanent Contract

General objective

  • Ensure that all tasks to be carried out in order to guarantee food safety have been carried out in accordance with the applicable requirements. But also to make sure that all the conditions for working in a healthy environment are met. Supervise HSE-related activities.

Responsibilities and Tasks
Managerial Responsibilities:

  • Relations with the various stakeholders
  • Conflicts resolution between people
  • Organize and lead the Quality and HSE
  • Time management within the department
  • Develop a master plan taking into account the objectives of the general management in terms of quality and all the requirements relating to food safety, customer requests, regulations and constraints of the company and policies.
  • Ensure technological and competitive intelligence on the departmental responsibilities.
  • Integrate the different standards in an integrated management system by interpreting the applicable standards
  • Define and negotiate the objectives for the year, the means to be implemented, the monitoring or audit procedures, the corresponding budget
  • Participate in communication, promotion of the all food safety policies.
  • Be able to provide cross-functional management.

Functional Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the implementation and maintenance of FSSC 22000 certificates
  • Respect of the franchise quality requirements
  • Carry out customer audits
  • Supervise activities related to hygiene, quality, food safety, HSE
  • Prepare the management review;
  • Train staff on the policy of the integrated food quality and safety management system;
  • Ensure regulatory watch;
  • Maintain up-to-date documented information relating to occupational safety and health;
  • Maintain up-to-date documented information relating to the quality and safety of foodstuffs;
  • Member of the HACCP team;
  • Train staff on Good Hygiene Practices, Good Manufacturing Practices, and Good Maintenance Practices;
  • Provide training for internal auditors;
  • Plan and manage the internal and external quality control audit activities.
  • Implement preventive and corrective actions
  • Develop and monitor the execution of the schedule of process reviews;
  • Member of the crisis committee;
  • Perform crisis simulations/Mock recalls at least once a year
  • Perform supplier audits with the supply and logistics department and keep the list of approved suppliers up to date;
  • Make the RM and FP releases on a good and functional traceability matrix even in the absence of an ERP.
  • Develop a schedule of department activities and ensure its execution;
  • Make a trend study on the results of release analyzes and monitoring;
  • Make a trend study on Pest control results, environmental analysis
  • Carry out a trend study on the non-conformities noted on the materials and the finished product;
  • Maintain the monitoring analysis control plan;
  • Hold weekly meetings with direct reports and Provide coaching for direct reports;
  • Make decisions on complex management issues;
  • Define the objectives of the department;
  • Define and monitor the implementation of internal and external communication;
  • Develop a budget for the department and monitor its implementation;
  • Mediate and elaborate with HR the contracts of the canteen providers.
  • Mediate and elaborate with the Cleaning/waste disposal, Pest control and calibration;

Required Skills
Education Degree:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science or any related field.

Work Experience:

  • 5 years minimum experience in food industry plant with 2 years in the same capacity.

Language Skills:

  • English Language

Other Required Skills:

  • Previous experience in a Managerial capacity.
  • Self-motivated with proven leadership skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment.
  • Must have a positive attitude.
  • Must have good written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, effectively under pressure, and deadline-oriented environment.
