Boston touched Shoemaker, who had given up one run on three hits in 6 1/3 innings thus far, for seven runs on seven hits in three innings. The runs all came via home runs – a grand slam in the second inning by Bobby Dalbec and a three-run shot in the third off the bat of Rafael Devers.

Seven Twins pitchers allowed one run on four hits over the next five innings.

Minnesota had just three hits — two off starter Eduardo Rodriguez, who went five innings — a Willians Astudillo double and singles by Caleb Hamilton and J.T. Riddle.

The Twins are off Thursday, returning to the field Friday for a road tilt against Atlanta at North Port, Fla. at 5 p.m. The game can be seen on FOX Sports North.
