We are recruiting to fill the below position:

Purpose Statement

  • We are seeking for an individual who can assess studies on emerging technologies, understand environmental impacts of energy production, transfer their understanding to practical business strategies, and communicate through a variety of means, including public presentations.
  • The candidate must be able to balance financial analysis with a visionary approach to alternative energy production. This specialist is committed to understanding environmental issues, capital investment, supply chain management and constraints.

Key Deliverables

  • Assist in the development/establishment of off-grid energy solutions, related outcome and output results, as well as related strategies, through analysis of energy sector needs and priorities.
  • Prepare technical reports and inputs for projects and documentation, ensuring accuracy, timeliness and relevance of information.
  • Provide technical and administrative support throughout all stages of programming processes by executing/administering a variety of technical program transactions, preparing materials/ documentations, complying with regulatory processes to support progress towards the off-grid energy solutions in Nigeria.
  • Prepare required documentations/materials to facilitate review and approval processes.
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external colleagues and partners to collect, analyze and share information on implementation issues, suggest solutions on routine implementation of relevant projects and alert appropriate officials and stakeholders for higher-level interventions and/or decision.
  • Keep record of reports and assessments for easy reference.
  • Contribute to SPG’s risk assessment and risk management processes in Nigeria by supporting relevant project teams in identifying and mitigating risks associated with renewable energy sources interventions.
  • Monitor and report on the use of sectorial program resources (administrative and other assets), verify compliance with approved allocations based on regulations/procedures and donor commitments with standards of accountability and integrity.
  • Report on issues identified to enable timely resolution by management/stakeholders.
  • Follow up on unresolved issues to ensure proper resolution.
  • Undertake field visits and surveys, collect and share reports with partners/stakeholders.
  • Support the project team/s in the design, development, implementation, management and monitoring of renewable interventions, as needed.
  • Provide technical and operational support to government counterparts, and understanding of regulatory policies, strategies, processes and best practices in off-grid energy solutions to support programme implementation

Minimum Qualifications / Experience

  • University degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 15 years work experience with at least 10 years of progressive management and technical experience in design, development, implementation and procurement of renewable energy systems.
  • Demonstrated experience and practical knowledge of off-grid renewable energy (preferably solar PV systems)
  • Additional relevant postgraduate courses in renewable energy or related field will be a strong asset;
  • Familiarity with off-grid and solar PV market and sector is required;
  • At least 5 years of experience required in business analysis, feasibility studies and resource assessment for solar PV projects is required;
  • Experience in international cooperation technical assistance highly desirable.

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Solid understanding of investment strategies and financial services
  • Strong understanding of financial risk management and oversight
  • Experience in Venture Capital, banking, government financing and mergers & acquisitions
  • Solid performance track record in such areas as strategic planning, financial reporting, reviewing and implementing contracts and negotiating.
  • As a dynamic leader, demonstrate interpersonal savvy and influence through the ability to work effectively with others and build strong relationships with a variety of stake holders, senior managers and department leaders.
