Royals activate Junis from IL, option Adams
The Kansas City Royals activated Jakob Junis from the injured list Wednesday, just in time for the right-hander to get the starting assignment Wednesday night against the Cardinals.
Junis, who opened the year on the COVID-19 IL, has been dealing with back spasms. He last pitched Aug. 7 against Minnesota and is 0-0 with a 4.00 ERA over nine innings and two starts this season.
To make room for Junis on the active roster, the Royals optioned right-handed reliever Chance Adams to their alternate training site. Adams made his 2020 big league debut Monday, allowing three runs on four hits (including a home run) in 1.2 innings.
