Royals rally from four-run deficit to tie Brewers 6-6

The Kansas City Royals used timely hits and a couple of mistakes by the Brewers to erase a four-run deficit and tie with Milwaukee 6-6 on Saturday.

The Royals found themselves in an early hole when Daniel Vogelbach singled off of Brad Keller, driving in two in the first.

Keller settled down after the bumpy start and didn’t give up another run. He threw four innings and struck out six.

Michael A. Taylor drove in Kyle Isbel for the Royals’ first run in the bottom of the third to cut the Brewers’ lead to 2-1.

Greg Holland entered in the fifth inning and the Brewers wasted no time extending their lead. A walk, three singles and a double put Milwaukee up 5-1. Holland exited after throwing 1/3 of an inning, giving up four hits and three earned runs.

Kansas City trailed 6-2 in the sixth when a Cam Gallagher RBI single and a Kyle Isbel two-run single cut the lead to 6-5.

The Royals continued to chip away at the Brewers’ lead in the ninth. Nick Loftin led off with a double and eventually scored on a wild pitch by Miguel Sanchez to produce the 6-6 tie.

The Royals have two spring training games remaining on the schedule, playing next on Sunday against the Rockies.
